Mass refunds to gift cards for travel agencies
Create a gift card campaign.
Add gift voucher balance via API or Dashboard.
Create gift cards
Open the Campaign Manager and select Gift Cards.
Begin with providing general details of your campaign:
- Name (required)
- Auto-update mode (recommended)
Auto-update mode means that new gift cards with properties established in the campaign will be automatically generated once you run out of the original pool of gift cards, ensuring continuity of your campaign.
- Description and Category (optional)
- Code redemption limits (unlimited recommended)
- Code count
- Code pattern
- Timeframe (for example 365 days after publication)
Next, choose the discount value – 0. Initially, you can set all gift cards to be empty so that later on you can add proper balance (based on total customer order) as a refund. However, you may add a custom amount to the gift cards as a welcome gift.
At this stage, you don't have to add any validation rules or metadata to your cards. However, you can create a multiple of different redemption workflows by, for example, limiting which customer segment can redeem the gift card, whether cards are restricted to selected product categories or minimum order amount.
Moreover, by including booking_id metadata in the Redemption object, you can effortlessly check which booking has been refunded. Metadata lets you add custom bits of information, letting you quickly adapt campaigns to your unique business model. Simply add a booking_id to a redemption request and filter out redemption details (customer and order data) based on the booking_id property.
Assign cards to customers
Now, save the campaign and move on to the next step – delivering codes to customers.
In this step, you need to assign gift cards to particular customers profiles so that customer X is a holder or a particular gift card Y.
Using the Distribution Manager is a better option if you would like to send gift card codes via email, SMS, or 3rd party apps. If you only want to assign gift cards to customers without letting them know – not all cards will be used by customers (they are only used if customers want to get a refund) – then API is a more effective approach.

After the creation and assignment of gift cards to selected customer profiles, you can send the digital gift cards to customers via multiple channels – email, SMS, print, 3rd party apps, and more. It can be an automatic distribution triggered when the assignment (publication) is made.

Change gift card balance
You can load balance on the card by using the Dashboard or Voucherify API.

By using the Add Gift Voucher Balance API method, you can quickly add the proper amount to the gift card. The amount should be based on the total order amount. All you need to do is to include the amount and gift card code in your API call.
